SDoC
Radar NBTC Certification
Non-automotive radar equipment sold or imported into Thailand requires NBTC approval before it can be placed on the market. NBTC designates three frequency bands for general radar use, all of which follow the SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity) path — with an estimated processing time of approximately one week from submission. Automotive radar installed in vehicles is a separate category covered under Vehicle Radar regulations.
Certification Requirements
| Frequency Band | Max Transmit Power | Certification | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5725–5875 MHz | 10 mW eirp | SDoC | Announcement regarding equipment permitted for general use |
| 10000–10600 MHz | 10 mW eirp | SDoC | Announcement regarding equipment permitted for general use |
| 76000–81000 MHz | 10 mW eirp | SDoC | Announcement regarding equipment permitted for general use |
Typical Applications
The Radar application under NBTC regulations covers low-power, non-vehicular radar systems used for detection, ranging, and level measurement. Typical products include:
- Industrial level measurement sensors (tank level, flow measurement)
- Ground-penetrating radar for subsurface detection
- Weather radar equipment and meteorological sensors
- Motion detection and presence sensing radar modules
- Through-wall detection systems
Not covered here: Radar systems installed in vehicles for collision avoidance, blind-spot detection, or adaptive cruise control fall under the Vehicle Radar application and are subject to different — and more complex — certification requirements.
Required Documents
- Technical specifications and product datasheet
- Product photographs (exterior and labelling)
- Test report from an accredited laboratory
- Authorised declaration (signed by the manufacturer or authorised representative)
Estimated Timeline
SDoC:Approximately 1 week from submission
